Sup im looking for some new headphones for my PC that are no more than about $170 if possible. Ive been lokoing around and reading reviews but I would also like some ideas from here before I make a choice. Wired or wireless. The only thing is I dont want ones that are going to make my ears hot if possible..

Logitech G930 is a pretty rocking gaming headset, though not the best for music. There is currently a bug however with Chrome that causes the headphones to have a very loud crackling sound due to the updated flash version, though there is a simple fix.

I got some Urban Ears for all around music, on-the-go, air planes, gaming, etc. I love them, reasonably cheap and still great sound quality and build/finish.

5-30,000Hz 98dBm is pretty good for $149.

The only downside to the ATH700 and it's a small one at that, is that the bass is lacking a bit. It's a headphone made for clarity and not for doof doofing like sennhesier which have a big bass to them.

If you're more about clarity then big bass then proceed with a purchase that you'll never regret.

I have the Logitech G930 and I also recommend it. The wireless just makes everything so much more convenient.

I've got a set of the G-930's and the wireless element is nice (can maintain voice comms in things like TS whilst grabbing a brew)

I'm not a fan of the 'closed ear' construction tho (not at home anyway... makes a lot of sense for the LANning types that would use em tho)

How go those urbanears Viper?

They at least look well thought out (in-line mic/volume and 'zoundport' are great additions to any headset!)
$105 from their website isn't as appealing, and those 'closed over-ear' speakers don't look massively comfy... how do these go for comfort when wearing for longer than an hour?

I use Logitech G35s, good for gaming which is all I use them for. Wired equivalent of the g930.

You might want to specify if you want one with a mic or not.

You can get them for around $100.

my HD555 still hold up well after about ~5 years. one ear is being held (quite well i might say) together by a combination of superglue and tape but zero problems with sound.i wouldn't say it's badly built but more of a "forget i had headphones on when walking away" or "getting caught under the chair damage"

Headphones more than likely

Headset kind of iffy.

Things I found helpful.

Maybe this one
http://www.testfreaks.com/headphones-headsets/

A lot of 'gaming headsets' tend to only do up to 20 khz but there is a Turtle Beach Headset that does higher. Whether this would make a difference I'm not sure.

As for USB Headset, only get it -- if you absolutely have to. The general thing is that Sound Card > Headphones is the better part of things.

- Headset that I saw reviewed on some benchmark feature website was this one.

Yeah, I think every pair of headphones I've ever bought, including the cheap k-mart ones have all broken because I've either dropped them, or the cord has been caught on the chair. They need to make headphones out of rubber :(
