Thomas Jane back as the Punisher in a short film, and holy shit, I want a full movie of it now, not the sissy watered-down version they delivered the first time round.
Apparently he did this without Marvel's permission though so it's hard to say if it'll go any further than this. I enjoyed the 2004 Punisher movie, not so much the sequel but a new Thomas Jane Punisher movie would be great. Also read somewhere the other day there's a planned Punisher tv series.
I liked Jane as the punisher and found the first movie to just be ok. Wasn't great but didn't hate it either very neutral movie for me. I really would like a full length movie done like this that's just brutal the way the punisher should be.
I thoroughly rated the '04 Punisher. Was a great 80's action flick made in 2004.
Ray Stevenson (Punisher 2008) was fuckin awesome as Titus Pullo in Rome (HBO Series) but that wasn't a good flick :\
It's an interesting short flick this... all you'd need to do is change the shirt to avoid Marvel's problem... I'd pay to see Tom Jane as The Punisher in cinema's again (the scene from the '04 movie with Kevin Nash (the fight @ home with the burly russian) was f***ing win)
The '04 movie had an awesome cast actually.... very underrated and awesome movie.
Ray Stevenson is aesthetically more suited to the role, he looks more like the Frank Castle from the comics and he's huge. Thomas Jane is a much better actor though and does pretty well.
The main problem with the first movie for me was John Travolta. His performance was way too cheesy and more should have been done to establish him as a criminal menace, instead of just some guy out for revenge.
blood spatter & bone breaks look like the cliche "I followed an after fx tutorial, look what I made" video. i.e. overused. Like when he punches the guy from the front with the bottle, blood sprays out everywhere. What, there's a major artery in your.... wherever the fuck he even hit him because to me it looks like he didn't even touch him (I know he didn't ACTUALLY hit any of them).
Lol, please tell me you knew it was the same dude if you've seen both hung and the punisher.

Yeah, kinda overused but it reminded me of certain movies where the blood is purposefully overdone in a more stylised manner. Sin city maybe? Kill bill?
Wow, I'm surprised no one mentioned that Ron Pearlman is in this. Also, absolutely hard to ignore the (over)use of the first track of The Dark Knight soundtrack "Why So Serious?"
Completely agree about the fake blood - they seem to lack movement or physics. Otherwise, a good short!
Considering it was done on pretty much no budget as a fan project, I think they did a pretty damn good job. I'd rather watch a movie of that than half the shit Hollywood puts out.
