Evolution disproved by... Loch Ness Monster!

And it's being taught in American schools.

Thousands of children in [Louisiana] will receive publicly-funded vouchers for the next school year to attend private schools where Scotland's most famous mythological beast will be taught as a real living creature.

These private schools follow a fundamentalist curriculum including the Accelerated Christian Education (ACE) programme to teach controversial religious beliefs aimed at disproving evolution and proving creationism.

This is in Biology textbooks:

"Are dinosaurs alive today? Scientists are becoming more convinced of their existence. Have you heard of the 'Loch Ness Monster' in Scotland?

Other claims are that the Japanese found a dinosaur, and that fire-breathing Dragons are real, and that the KKK are respectable.

This is happening in public schools in up to 13 states, and likely in home-schools.

How did Ancient cultures guess what Dinosaurs looked like ?

Supressed Archeology is a very interesting subject to research.

How did Ancient cultures guess what Dinosaurs looked like ?

Why did they have to guess?

Surely it's conceivable they could have dug up the odd couple just as we have?

Why are they dinosaus at all?

Surely it's conceivable they had mythical creatures in tales composed of multiple genetic traits, just as we have in our mythology?

There's a documentary out that explores the theory that most of the beasts found in mythology were actually from dinosaur remains the ancient cultures had dug up. Just our ancestors trying to explain what they found.

It was on the BBC called "Dinosaurs Myths and Monsters" for those interested, seemed like a very plausible explanation to many of the stories.

Don't be ridiculous. Native Americans were busy hunting, fishing & chewing on peyote before Europeans came along and taught them what's what.

you know i would like to say "only in America" but...sigh...the sad thing is, Australia isn't that far off.. Chaplin program anyone? or hey lets change the laws to make the Christian groups happy and call it a "compromise"..

Mountains of evidence from many fields which puts dinosaurs and humans in very different eras, faceman finds one vague 'could be seen many ways' smudge and becomes convinced that there's a centuries-long scientific conspiracy.

You only know what dinosaurs are because of the scientific evidence for them ffs.

The same stuff was being taught in a certain GPS school in Brisbane too. That's how they 'explained' the dinosaurs being around with Adam + Eve, Noah etc.

At least it wasn't in science classes.

This goes through my mind whenever I meet an American. I'm just dying to ask them if they believe everything they learned in school.

*edit* of note - Tasmanian Aboriginals were a great deal more advanced than their their mainland cousins. How's that for irony :P

I gotta be honest, for ages I thought dinosaurs were alive when our ancestors were. I guess too much Ice Age.

They weren't even around the time of the chimps or even before that! Closet thing is small animals appear around the time they were crapping their pants.

What ?

Where did you get that from ...

It's debatable if they even knew how to make fire.
But they didn't even have boomerangs or bone tools.

"Guns, Germs, and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies" basically said they were probably the least advanced culture on the planet.

Your inference being that technological advancement destroys culture ?

Or could it just be that isolation while protecting you leads to underdevelopment ?

And soon as that isolation ends, your lack of advancement makes you easy fodder for whitey with a gun.

Hell yer, best burg0re ev0re. I'd go a Big Queenslander with avacado and pineapple (if those things are your kind of thang yo) with a side serve of small chips with garlic mayo/aoili to kickstart your virginal Grill'd experience on a good note - speaking of which, that feed will set you back around a red-back. This post proudly brought to you by a Grill'd FB feed subscriber! :)

aoili is for gayolies, it's not far off from sucking a day old wad out of a used dommie, what happened to mayo or miracle whip on your burger and sweet chilli and sour cream on your wedges?

Anyways apparently this Loch Ness Monster / Accelerated Christian Education shit is going on in Australia too.

In Australia homeschooling families have to agree to complete the basic curriculum, but are free to use any other curricula as well.

“With evolution…there are Christian schools that run conventional schools that teach against evolution. God knows what goes on in the informal curriculum. There’s no regulation that will enforce a formal understanding of science. “
