During the latest Nintendo Direct Presentation, the publisher reportedly revealed that they are planning downloadable content for the upcoming New Super Mario Bros 2 game for Nintendo 3DS -- which to the best of our knowledge, is amazingly the first time that the Big N has dipped a toe in the waters of post-launch content expansion sales of any kind (via Verge.

According to Verge, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata explained that the DLC will be in the form of additional levels for the game's new Coin Rush mode, which as the name suggests is all about collecting large amounts of Mushroom Kingdom currency. Iwata also reportedly mentioned that the levels would be created later this year, presumably to ward off accusations of on-disc (card?) DLC.

You can watch a video overview of NSMB2's coin rush mode below and you can watch Nintendo of America's full, 21 minute, Nintendo Direct presentation here on AusGamers.
