if there is one thing I have learned from being gainfully employed, it's that university degrees mean absolutely diddly squat as far as a persons intelligence goes
She sounds a little overqualified using her English Lit degree to write porn movie scripts.
Haha, reminds me of a porno I watched when I was about 14 where this private detective stayed in a brothel because the women were being harassed. Over the length of the film each of the whores demands he have sex with them and he becomes so over-sexed that he fakes his own depth.
Laying in the coffin at his church service the whores take it in turns to read a saucy eulogy about what a good lay he was and he gets an erection in the coffin and they realise he's alive and jump his bones.
If that's not good script writing then I don't know what is.

Not quite.
A stupid person can't legitimately attain a degree of any merit. A smart person doesn't need a degree to be a smart person.
This is what degrees are for, a warrant of merit and expertise. The University is asserting you know something about the subject matter and are not a retard. You don't need one for this to be true, but its nice to have some proof of merit handy.
Being essentially uneducated, you don't like hearing that, but its true.
I've worked with uneducated retards, effectively doing the same job I do, so I question what my uni degree was for.
Even had a schoolie become my boss, because she had tits the CEO liked.

I disagree with your entire statement, a stupid person absolutely can attain a degree.
our views of what "stupid" is may or may not differ but the reality is that anyone can spend 4-6 years at uni and come out "qualified"
the only thing it proves is that they have the ability to show up regularly and retain information for at least long enough to pass a standardised test.
I was making six figures before I turned 23 and I did it all after failing grade 10, being "essentially uneducated" has never really kept me from sleeping like a baby at night on my goose feather pillows
Seriously though, aren't all pornstars super-intelligent? They are making money by having sex FFS.
I know a guy that was in a bar in Melbourne and an older woman came up and asked him if he wanted to do an adult film. He's a big guy, 6'5", handsome, stereotypical clean shaven good-looking dude. He thought she was just hitting on him or whatever so he brushed her off and she persisted and said she directs films and he was the type of guy she was looking for.
So he declined politely then went home and told his dad about it and his dad said, "I wouldn't usually say this, but there are some decisions in life you will learn to regret."
Heaps of stupid people get degrees. A degree is not proof in itself of intelligence. Moreover plenty of fuckwits get degrees who will straight out ruin your business.
I care more about a porn star's tits, ass and overall hotness. I could care less about their IQ.

Depends on the institution and study. Not all degrees are created equal. A stupid person cannot get a computer science or engineering degree from a decent institution, for example.
I know this because I watched people who tried and failed. Not 'everyone' can do it. Rote learning isn't enough. You didn;t even try, so you have no idea what is involved.

Jesus Christ, do you have that in notepad somewhere, ready to copy and paste? We all know. The entire fucking internet knows.

way to completely miss the point.
You said

and I replied

You were wrong in saying that "a stupid person cant legitimately attain a degree", get over it.

Why does this bother you so much, anyone would think you're jealous the way you carry on about me stating a simple fact.
I've probably said it a couple of times now but each time it has been relevant to the conversation.
In this instance we are specifically talking about measurable success after leaving education for a career, something I have experience with.
For the record, I did a week or two of uni as a mature age student back in 2005~ but I found it incredibly difficult to justify when I was already taking home 2k/week after tax and at the end of the degree I couldn't expect to earn any more.
Probably because you type it with such arrogance teq.
As for me, i never actually went to highschool and i'm clearing about 80K before tax at the moment, and i have no interest in earning more money considering most six figure careers require alot of dedication & work, unless its a self running business.
The perks make it even sweeter. My goal was to find a job i'd enjoy doing regardless of the monetary value. I found it after quitting about 5 jobs in a 3 month period, and was pretty surprised the money was good as well.
