Indie Game The Movie (IMDB) was released world wide this week. It won Best Editing for a documentary at Sundance this year and got some initial funding through Kickstarter

A documentary that follows the journeys of indie game developers as they create games and release those works, and themselves, to the world.
..snip..
After two years of painstaking work, designer Edmund McMillen and programmer Tommy Refenes await the release of their first major game for Xbox, Super Meat Boy—the adventures of a skinless boy in search of his girlfriend, who is made of bandages. At PAX, a major video-game expo, developer Phil Fish unveils his highly anticipated, four-years-in-the-making FEZ. Jonathan Blow considers beginning a new game after creating Braid, one of the highest-rated games of all time.

It's $10 to buy it DRM free from the filmmakers. You can also get it on iTunes and Steam.

I watched this today and thought it was quiet good. It interesting to see what the devs are going through as they release or battle through legal issues with their games/companies

The first half of the movie is almost a different movie from the second half in the sense of content.

First half they are talking more about how they make the games, and the processes they have to deal with. While the second half becomes a drama, looking at their emotions and the like during the lead up to and during release.

The Phil Fish parts in the second part are all dramatic and scripted which I found rather off putting. At least the Team meat guys at least still seem genuine and not fake.

Interesting movie none the less, too much "ohhh we can make a pretty documentary" and not enough getting to the point of what is really happening in the second half but still worth a watch.

yeah bluewolf i thought similarly of Phil Fish the character. but then if it was all about a designer and not about the pain and time that goes into the games it would have been much duller. the insight into the Br (bromine?) engine for Fez was interesting, and probably what the 'legal battle' between the two is in dispute over.
