Only 12% of your friends see your average status update, but Facebook is testing an option called “Highlight” that lets you pay a few dollars to have one of your posts appear to more friends.
Notice the price: $2.00usd
on a highlight click for me: $3.60usd
Interesting way for them to milk some money.

Hmm - I've seen a bunch of people bitching about this... especially small business pages... My understanding is that things continue to function as is - however you have the option to make sure your status updates are seen by EVERYONE subscribed/friended... sounds like a good thing for small business if you ask me. I'm just not looking forward to facebook activists promoting their anti-slave-labour posts (ironically posted from an iphone)

however, unless your post was a humourous topical url, 0% could give a fuck.

Anyone else noticing how few people are on Facebook these days? It seems the novelty is wearing off, people are caring less about what their friends are doing "Having a great day with _____ and _____" and just getting too busy with other things in life.
It might not even be that Facebook is slowly moving toward a "hey, pay for this" model, it's just had its time.

Next you're going to be saying that those two people who liked my status, one of whom I haven't seen for ten years and the other who I don't even remember meeting, aren't my best friends. And it will hurt.
Though it's a good idea for preventing spamming, if a fanpage or person has something important to announce without it getting lost in the stuff. :/

Yeah, was talking about this with a friend last night, sounds like a brilliant way to grief people. $2 is a small price to pay for making unavoidable pictures of cocks appear at the top of everyone's facebook page.

To have my "this post is to see how much it will cost me to make you see it" promoted would cost me nothing now but $3.60 in future:
Original Price: $3.60 USD
Price: FREE
there was a strikethrough on the $3.60 USD, but farked if i'm going to look up that tag. And then they only promised me twice as many friends would see it. It'd be cheaper and more reliable for me to ring or sms my friends and tell them.

It'd be a shame if something happened to it on the way to your friends feed.

No, I haven't noticed that trend.
FB is incredibly useful for managing social groups. E.g., sports clubs.

The only time that I've ever played a sport in my life was when there was a facebook group for it, take that computers-make-people-stay-inside people. (although it was moreso about being cashed up and loose with money at the time, still will defend the precious :P)

Only 12% of your friends see your average status update That's because everyone has over 500 friends. Who the fuck actually knows every single one of their "friends"? Am I crazy for only having 20 or so people on my facebook, people who I actually know or are friends of actual friends?
However I'm an evil son of a bitch and I can see me getting bored one day and highlighting all kinds of weird stuff like "I just took a shit".
Anyone else noticing how few people are on Facebook these days?
I've noticed less and less people are posting anything interesting. I mostly get faggots tagging themselves in nike shoe adverts or nail polish adverts in attempts to get free shit. Getting fucking sick of it too, there's no way to block those kinds of taggings without blocking the friend doing it.

I would just block the 'friend' and call it a day.
I just clicked 'promote' on one of my items and my quote was £0.91 GBP :-/
Not sure what's going on there. My browser is in German but if I go to Google I get redirected to google.com.au so they know where I'm at. Why Facebook thinks I'm in the UK I have no idea.

I stuck them in the acquaintance list pinky. It means that I see less of their shit, but can still see stuff they post. I see no point in just blocking someone, if I was going to go that far as to block all communications, I might as well just delete them.

Also what the fuck is with getting funny looks when you tell people you don't do facebook. Like you are somehow a strange edgy individual for not putting your whole shitty meaningless life on the internet for everyone else to laugh/masturbate to.

my facebook seems fine, lots of interesting people doing and saying interesting things, posting cool photos or interesting clips, with lots of amusing conversations and comments.
there does seem to be a slightly high number of annyoing positive affirmations, if it continues, ill simply block that shit and move on.

To knock on fb is to knock on your friends. They are your facebook. I find most people who don't like facebook to be awkward social types. Plus, if you have many different social groups, you no longer have to do the fortnightly ring round to keep up to date and in touch. So yeah, i guess its not for people with 5 friends which includes their mum.

My facebook experience is way better after I deleted my friends list down to people that I see all the time, see regularly and enjoy their company in a social setting, and people who don't live locally that I want to stay in contact with. I was sick of reading passive-aggressive friend-zone bitching from dickheads who I don't like. The problem was I'd get friend requested by these people and feel rude about not accepting it, and the list of people on my frienemies list would just grow and grow. Now I just ignore them and deal with the rude feeling :P
Makes facebook way better.

Rev/Shaexen, FB is what you make of it. I don't update people on my every move at all. I just post interesting shit I find around the net mostly, and a lot of people like and comment on the articles/vids/whatever I post so that approach seems to be pretty well received.

i have about 80-90 (down from about 370) friends on fb but i am sucribed to alot of cool shit. So i only see stuff from people i actually know and want on fb that dont spam the crap out of annoying shit. the second they do, bam deleted and if they ask why i just say because your shit is annoying.
My feed is awesome, im subscribed to alot of car feeds (top gear, downshift, drift style, speedhunters, toms hardware, meme 18+, jess nigri fan page, melanie iglaises, see more, greedy racing, fullboost, toyota ft86, jeremy clarkson, carbon fibre gear, etc).. come to think of it my fb is pretty awesome i hardly seen friends posts because of all the sweet videos and pics put up by everything else.
So yeah fb is what you make of it.

Yeah I just use my FB to stalk family members mostly, and to keep in contact with old friends from school/tafe. Depends how bored/angsty I am as to how much I post myself. Sometimes I'll go weeks without saying anything, other times I'll post random shit a couple of times a day.

Probably because they don't think you're a good friend, because you're not sharing in their activities on Facebook.
Seriously, how you can differentiate between Facebook and this forum is beyond me, Jim. This forum exposes you to far more bullshit than than Facebook ever well (unless you have some really retarded friends).

But if someone posts an advert for some retarded shit on facebook, I have to manually click unsubscribe from (retarded) friend. At least on QGL all the spammy ads are nuked for me by thoughtful admins.
