I've been reading my way through all the Horus Heresy series of books, they're written by different authors though so the quality can vary from really good through to a bit trashy. Probably not of any real interest to anyone who doesn't like sci-fi and/or space marines and/or warhammer 40k, but I like them!

 I'm reading The Hunger Games. Haven't seem the movie because I heard it's shit. But I figure the concept of the book sounds OK. Just started last night, so only 1/3 of the way through...seems OK...next I will re-read Chickenhawk or The 13th Valley, have been itching to read those again.

Currently reading (when I can be bothered to read) Retribution falls by Chris Wooding. Reminds me of Firefly a bit with the way they are pirates/legitimate business people. The main character is definitely based on Mal.

What I am currently reading:
Smoking Monkeys, Drilling Rigs, Bio-Diesel Bikes and other Stories - Paul Carter
sort of biography/memoir of his life working on oil rigs, and then his decision to ride a bio-diesel motorbike around australia. funny stuff, crazy situations from this oil rig days.
Look at the Birdie - Kurt Vonnegut
Collection of Vonnegut short stories that were released after he passed away. Good, great even, if you like Vonnegut.
Rabbit, Run - John Updike
Finally getting around to this book, bit of a 'American Classic'. good so far.
I tend to have multiple books on the go (clearly) unless one really takes my fancy and I'll smash it out. Pretty easy to jump back and forth at the moment because Look at the Birdie is a short story compilation and Paul Carter's book is largely vignettes amongst a loose overall narrative so easy to jump back in.
If you like fantasy/sci-fi, others will probably have better suggestions, my latest reads in that area are the Game of Thrones series, but also a bunch of books by an author named Stephanie Swainston (quite realistic, gritty fantasy). and the Dan Simmons Sci-Fi books are pretty awesome too. Neil Gaiman's stuff is pretty much all good, American Gods, Anansi Boys, Neverwhere, Smoke and Mirrors (short story collection). That's all I know of outside of his comic stuff/young adult stuff.

I liked the jason bourne series, lee child stuff, recently read a universe from nothing, have the rest of Krauss' books but I try to alternate with fiction.
I try to include a classic in the rotation too, read war of the worlds which was awesome.

I'm reading what I have read for the past 13 years;
Stephen King, Clive Barker and HP Lovecraft, oh and a bit of Dan Brown mixed in for some good measure.
As a side note anyone reckon Cthulhu mythos is the most interesting thing they have ever read about? It's amazing to think most of the stuff was based off Lovecrafts' nightmares.

God is a fucking arsehole I must say. Bit of a spoiler but the first half feels like a different story to the second. Kind of how like starwars was deep and darkish with oppressive empire, but 1, 2 and 3 had that clown and his merry men of happy go fun scooter scenes. (jar jar binks? and the speed racer section).
He's more loveable in the new testament. I liked the bit about the magician/alchemist who walked on water so they stuck him through with sticks nailed on a tree or something.
It's been a few years since i read it.
