i love this kind of technology, just imagine the amount of oil that could be reclaimed from plastic.

also lookup thermal depolymerization. its amazing that more money hasn't been allocated to these processes.

Wow. Pretty amazing stuff. Hate to think what one of those machines would cost though. That is a huge innovative idea.

That's pretty awesome.

I still see heaps of recyclable waste getting burred at the Tip though... Even easy shit like Aluminium Cans that sporting clubs/schools have drop off points for still get dumped. The amount of plastic that could currently go into recycling bins makes me pretty sad.

For this to work, people will need to spend that extra 30 seconds sorting, currently that isn't happening.

Could the machine use the oil it creates to power itself?
Does it produce pollutants?

Blest informs us that, since we visited them last year, improvements have been made to the machine and the price is now ¥1,06o,000 (around US$12,700) without tax.]

Somehow I doubt that 8-)

That's such an awesome invention. Anything that helps the future is good by me. I always wonder what kids today will have in the future but I always think of stuff like over population instead of cool tech like this. Still, the world is gonna be screwed over eventually. I'm just glad I won't be around when the shit hits the fan.

So when do we invent a machine that turns plastic/oil back into dinosaurs?

I think it is amazing that some people think that the only way to get oil is by drilling.

ps. they can make plastic from even Palm oil.

Nah, Tupperware lasts for donkey's years. When oil runs out the price of existing Tupperware will spike and the parties will just abandon the market on new Tupperware in order to tap into the soaring used Tupperware market.

Oil will not run out for Hundreds of years maybe longer.
Forget the nonsense of Peak oil.

This is an example of how we will solve all Environmnetal problems eventually.
The best way to do it is make a product that can return an investment.
Not plunge $10 billion into money making green schemes that will never pay for themselves, there is no incentive for those schemes to succeed.

Lol watever face.

Cheap oil is over. If it wasn't we wouldn't be fighting the arabs, boiling tar sands or deep sea drilling.

Coal Power baby!!! Now coal is the resource that won't run out for 300 yrs.

Nuclear, which will power those cars, will last even longer too.
Australia just needs to get on board!

I would love an electric car that could suit my needs, sadly none exist yet.

I'm sure that where you're from, plutonium is available in every corner drugstore, but where I'm from, it's a little hard to come by.

(don't worry I know what you really meant)

Yeah, the exact same way that slaps' Coal will power them. Pretty sure Slaps didn't mean they had coal power plants under the hood either.

But hey, we could use RTG's like the one in Voyager. That would be pretty cool... maybe not the best considering road accident figures though...
