Has all this wet weather killed some computers?

So during those long rain periods my computer turned on and then turned off again instantly, and then no power would get through at all.
Left it for 5 minutes, it turned back on and stayed on for the next 3 days.
Then the rain had cleared a bit, I figured I'd turn it off. Next time I turned it on, same thing .. turned on and then turned off, 5 minutes later finally started, left it on for a week, no dramas.
It's been about 2 weeks since then, and when I went to turn on the computer this evening, there wasn't even a spark. No sign of life. I've checked all the connections. It was working just fine yesterday, and it hasn't been touched since.
Anyone else experiencing this kind of problem or is my mother board or PSU on the way out?

tried taking the ram + cpu out & re-seat them? I had something similar with another PC so I took it completely to bits, left the CMOS battery out for a week then put it all back together and it worked awesome forever more. The cause of my issue though was I fucked up the overclock but the computer still had zero power anywhere, wouldn't even turn on and I thought I'd fried it.

Dust and humidity can be bad for computers. Do you keep it reasonably clean?

I'll try taking it all apart, Whoop, thanks for the suggestion.
m3nt4al: yeah I vacuum it a bit, seems quite clean. Not 100% if I'm enough of course, but haven't had issues in the past from dust.

You should get a UPS too. I have 3 of them now. I've lost a hard drive in a storm, that was shit.

Yeah losing a hard drive would've been nasty. I back up everything important these days ... learnt that lesson very early on.
Also, just took everything out and put it back in, still no good.
PSU appears dead! Or mother board. Wish I had some spares to test it out.

I hate not knowing whether it's the PSU or the motherboard!

thermite, totally. Who needs scary movies?
Outlaw, I would've said PSU before mobo. What makes you think mobo?

outlaw, out of all the times i've had dead pcs that wouldn't turn on at all, about 90-odd percent have been PSU. If the PC would turn on but not display the POST, then usually its motherboard, sometimes graphics card or ram. but no workie at all? swap a known working power supply in it.
the only time i've ever seen the weather affect PCs is when lightning is involved.

hardware, good to know, and yeah I've found the same with PSUs over mother boards.
I'll take it to someone's house tomorrow to test another PSU with it, that should narrow it down at least!

protip: PSUs almost always have an internal fan...if the fan doesn't spin when you turn it on chances are the PSU is borked.

BassMan, nothing is turning on at all. Seriously, zero response.

Just replaced the PSU with a new one. Still no response at all from the computer.
So that was a nice waste of money (oh the joy of computers). And if it's not the PSU, it'd have to be the mother board right?

Motherboard. I assumed you checked all the connections from the PSU to.

Yeah was all plugged in. I have a new mother board to try now, so I'll let you know how it goes when I've installed it.

THE POWER SWITCH! OF COURSE!@#$%!&
Warranty - missed it by less than a month, brilliant.
Outlaw, you win bragging rights! GOOD CALL
It was indeed the mother board, all working now with the new one. Powered on straight away.
Thanks for the help, everyone! Much appreciated.

Was going to suggest, to test the PSU just unplug it from the mobo & bridge one of the black wires to the green one. It should fire up.
