As the title says i need others who have it to inform me
i'm a huge fan of cod4 got it when it came out
i've played through the single player once other than that i pwn noobs on multiplayer
i'm mainly asking because of the gayness regarding multiplayer i read a little bit about in the other thread
so what's the verdict?

Well in it's current form it looks good but if the censors have their way they'll prolly ruin it.

It's already been approved MA15+ by the Classification Board. The only point of contention is the dedicated server issue on PC, which obviously doesn't affect console players as peer to peer garbage is what they're all used to anyway.
For an Australian PC gamer, peer to peer multiplayer in a competitive first person shooter is going to be one big exercise in frustration. Considering that the singleplayer for MW2 is reportedly only around 5.5 hours long, your PC gaming dollars might be best spent elsewhere this xmas.

i can
i actually thought this was out already, hence the thread
i pretty much don't buy games for the single player, if i buy a game it's because i want to play it online alot
no dedicated servers sounds like balls, so i'll stick with cod4

Comes out on the 10th. I really don't think the peer to peer will be that big of a problem. The only issue I've had on the ps3 is trying to find a decent game if no one is playing. Which is part of the reason I put down cod: waw and picked up modern warfare again - more people were playing it and easier to get a game.
Given how massively popular I expect mw2 to be i doubt this will be much of a prob.

this will be my first fps experience on a console. i already know it'll be shit without a mouse to aim with, but all my mates are into ps3's these days so i've jumped ship with them.

If it was $49.99 and had dedicated server support I'd say yes for sure - I'll be holding onto my cash - plenty of other great games to be playing

I'll be getting it for the 360 when the prices come down a bit. No rush.

PLEASE DO NOT BUY IT ON PC UNTIL YOU'VE READ SOME REVIEWS OF HOW THE MULTIPLAYER IS
If you buy this game before an even CASUAL inquiry into how it performs in terms of multiplayer you are contributing to irreparable damage to the PC multiplayer scene. Seriously.
I'm not saying "don't buy it ever because it sucks". I'm saying, be a discriminating gamer and at least wait until people that know what they're talking about in terms of online have given it a once over (ie, us, or your friends that play online regularly, or other people whose opinions you trust)

Im mainly concerned with the small player limit with no dedicated servers. I enjoy playing in 24 or 32 player games usually, but with no dedicated servers it will probably max out at 16 players.
I dont really mind the console experience, i have had plenty of fun playing halo 3 online on my xbox. Hopefully its as good as that.

Yes USD $89.99 is ridiculous. Thout it was a mistake but weeks later the price has stuck.

$30 for 18 holes is a better way to spend 5 hours But if you compare that to ya mum's 3 holes for $5, it's better value for the same hole/$ ratio, ESPECIALLY since it'll last you all night long.

Wait what? That's the uber edition, right? Not the standard "dvd in a big cardboard box" edition?

Yeah, please for the love of god don't buy your games from EB, you're getting bent over and brutally raped.
JB often sell new games for $89 or $79, sometimes other places like Big W have them really cheap when they come out and you can get them for even less. If you're going to go to EB at least make them pricematch.

I went into Game & EB on the weekend for a browse while wifey hit up some clothes shops and both times I was the only one in the shop which begs the question, how the hell do these places survive? I'd imagine most people who are into gaming know they can get it cheaper online or at JB, Big-W, Target, Kmart, etc.
As for the new CoD I won't be buying it because the price is fucking retarded and no dedicated servers. The gaming industry still asks themselves why people pirate games - I tell you why, because it's shit value for money when you pay $120 for 5.5 hours of entertainment.

When I looked in EB Games, for similar reasons, I noticed a fair few people in there. Most where mums buying a game for their kiddies and other types who may not know that EB is really expensive.

Big W is great for games. I was trying to find a copy of Sims 3 for my wife soon after release day, EB were charging $100 and were all out, but Big W had a shelf full of them for $69. The guy that worked there said that pretty much nobody buys PC games there, so they are always cheaper and in stock.

I walked into EB inquiring about tekken 6 and surprise surprise it was $120.
After asking I immediately got asked "would you like us to put it on hold for you to reserve your copy for release on the 5th of November?".
Me: "nah, if i was buy it it'd be from GameTraders, they have it for $85 and are selling them right now".
Him "They'll get a fine for breaking the street release date"
Me: "Not my problem. Even so it's an import they don't have to stick to the street release date"
Him: "Chances are it wont work on aussie consoles"
Me: "yeah it will. It's UK Pal."
Him "well then just buy it from them".
Me "Nah i already imported myself for $60 - free shipping too".
His left eye twitched uncontrollably and a massive vein popped out of his head.

The release dates for it seem all weird, it apparently comes out tomorrow in shops here? And yet, it doesn't come out on Steam until the 13th? Anyone know why?

Trade-ins of course. It makes them a shit tonne of money because there's almost no margin in it. Buy back games at $5 to $20 bucks and then resell it at $5 less then full price for a new copy.
And there's always some chump who see's no problem with shafting the developers and publisher by saving $5. I would be be one of these people myself if a trade-in was half the price of a new copy

From what I have read it is to give brick and mortar stores a chance at sales. Its especially silly for the PC since ALL users play through steam, so people that buy it on the 10th will be able to play the game, on steam, before the people that buy it on steam - who will have to wait until the 12th... unless something changes.

1) Only some of the theme music is by Hans Zimmer.
2) IW didn't 'lie' about the removal of infinite respawning enemies in single player. They just 'forgot to mention' that there's now a finite amount and that finite number is large. Reportedly very large.
3) Torchlight + Shattered Horizons is a better way to spend your money. Fuck IW and fuck EA.
