Best bet would be Arma series. It is probably the most realistic shooter and I believe they may even use it to some degree in military training. Other then that series, you might find Operation Flashpoint of similar style, however I have heard bad things about that.

Depends on what you define a military FPS as.

If you want uber realism, ArmA 2 (get combined ops for $30) which has other benefits (such as the DayZ mod for it).

If you want something less realistic, BF3 is always fun.

If you want a mix of the two, Red Orchestra 2 is fun, though didn't do so well. But it's on sale atm so it might pick up again now that it's fixed.

I guess what I should be saying is: Elaborate. What do you mean by "military shooter?"

Don't think there are any aussie servers though. Not sure about maps either.

If you want something different try World of Tanks.

Servers are in Europe and US. Its a free game but you can buy extra stuff like camo and consumables as well as tanks.

Other then that, Battlefield 3.

Yep, ArmA or BF3 would be my suggestions.

Hi Guys ,
Thanks for the comments.
I used to play Novalogics , Black Hawk Down , Joint Operations, Delta Force Extreme.
I liked a lot of the features of these games, despite not being the top of tree at the time.
You could make you own maps, which is really great.
Yes i know of the Battlefield and Cod series, it seems it will come down to one of these.
Neither of the above games were classed as SIMS , more arcade .

Cyberdine go the direction of ArmA series they are mil sims they be hard on your system but worth it in my book no hackers no kids and if you join up with a decent clan you always have a great game
