Very interested to see they have it on shelves, and $58 is not a bad price. Although not that you can play it for another 5 days. Wonder if EB Games will release my collectors edition early to me??

Games should be released like this anyway. Let people buy boxed copies a fortnight before it opens, then unlock it.

Having said that though, I've had situations in the past where stuff has been on the shelf at BugW, but it scanned as not for sale at the register, so they wouldn't sell it to me.
I think that was with MarioKart 7

As much as I love Penny Arcade, and as much as I agree with the sentiment they're imparting...
They seem to have missed or glossed over the fact that those horses must still bring in a significant amount of revenue otherwise they'd have been fucked a long time ago.

Pretty sure its encrypted until it unlocks, so even if you got it early, you wouldn't be able to datamine anything out of it.
I wonder if EB will sell me my collector's edition on the weekend, that'd much it much easier to pick up..

those are pretty impressive benchmarks at full graphics for lower end cards. min 44 and max 50fps on max at 1920x1080 for a 550ti is pretty damn smooth.

For those who don’t have DVD players in their gaming machines, simply assign your CD Key to your battle net account and then you can just download the installer.

It's nice to see "mods" already out for D3 that make it look a lot less cartoon-ish. I don't believe it is considered a "cheat" or anything, but to be safe I'd wait for an official response.

EDIT - saw a video from the creator and turns out it's just like a fxaa injector and doesn't modify any files, the same type of method like you would run fraps with. Should mean it'll be fine. Score! Oh and that picture doesn't do the mod justice since it's very grainy looking. There's 3 types of the mod. 1 that darkens, 1 that sharpens and another that does both at once so yeah.

I'm gonna play it as it was intended. Don't really like the look of it with that mod on anyway, it just seems to be a "Make everything more bland and brown" mod. I quite like colour, I don't want it all to be brown.

Best to check out the actual page Khel, does it more justice. I don't particularly like the cartoonish look that the current developers are going for, gives me too much of a WoW vibe. Just glad that people are able to do this though and give consumers an option.

Yeah, I did check out the page, thats when I noticed the brown-ness. I dunno, just doesn't appeal to me, it just seems to dull everything down too much. But I'm not a huge fan of mods that change the look of games anyway, I'm too anal about experiencing it the way it was intended :P I figure the people who've been making the game for the past 5+ years probably know the best, or at least, I'd like to experience it the way they intend before I decide it needs to be changed.

I gave it a shot and wasn't too impressed. You lose A LOT of the colour in the game, harder to distinguish between rares and whites, coloured monsters (champions / rares) and uncoloured monsters. Not the kind of thing you want to experience in the midst of battle.
The sharpness makes some things look amazing too, but some other things dread awful (things that use fine detail, I think from memory the portraits, resource orbs and some text was borderline painful to see). YMMV

Seems $58 is a good price for a boxed copy. You can save maybe a few $'s getting a digital copy or sent from overseas. So I'll get the Big W copy if it is indeed that price.

Also Eorl, nice find, that mod looks fucking awesome and exactly how the game should look out of the box, ala Diablo. Was the only thing I was disappointed about with the beta was it just looked like WOW.

Just went to Big W Taigum to try get a copy - according to their computers they had 4 in stock. They couldn't find the stock however. After talking to four employees I got the answer that they cannot sell them until tomorrow or they get fined multiple-millions of dollars.
Have to wonder whether other retailers will be saying something about what the Carindale store got up to, or whether the Carindale store is still even selling themselves.
Anyway, guess I'll have to make another trip tommorrow morning, zzz.

Rang my local Big W today and they said they will be selling Diablo 3 for $58, but got told that you wouldn't be able to buy it until Thursday as that is when their catalogue starts...
But i will be buying my copy of Diablo 3 from Dick Smith for $59, as rang them today and put my name down on one to pick up tomorrow morning.
