Warhammer - Does anyone play?

Well for the past few months I've been off work for health reasons so I've been keeping myself busy by getting into an old hobby of mine, Warhammer. Now I'm not the best player (still learning), but what I really enjoy doing is painting and creating armies. Well today I took my newest army (Vampire Counts) down to my local Games Workshop at Upper Mt Gravatt for a photo shoot.

Nice! Yeah, I don't play fantasy, but I do have a couple of 40k armies. I have a Grey Knights army (and I had them before they were the cool flavour-of-the-month army to have, back when they were all metal) and an Imperial Guard army. All my stuff is still down in Melbourne though, when I eventually get it up here I'll snap some photos.

I've got one of those boards too, the modular ones like you've got your stuff laid out on, and a bunch of bits of scenery/cover to scatter around.

I never played but I used to collect the Dark Elves in England and paint them. Wasn't on the can bring list to Australia so I never got into it, but is there a big games workshop in Brisbane which has painted displays and is actually big so I can have a gander?

Great hobby and great paint jobs mate. Can't justify the coin for this shit anymore though, it is way too expensive for what it is.

Had a 5000 something point wood elf army, fully painted really good, sold it all for a few hunge. Additionally been through 2000~ point chaos 40k and tau armies though sold that stuff for a few hunge as well.

there a big games workshop in Brisbane
Only 2 left are at garden city and in the CBD. The ones at chermside and carindale went broke because no one wanted to pay $50 to an unpainted piece of plastic.

Yeah, I'm living just round the corner from that one at Mt Gravatt atm, its pretty big. More tables to play on than displays though. They host plenty of competitions and tournaments and stuff there though I think, so you could always drop in one of those days and check out other people's armies if you wanted to take a gander at stuff.

oh shit i didn't realise chermside was gone, i know they moved the shop up the other end chermside into the old section, obviously couldn't afford the rent for the prime position they had on the corner there

i have a dark angels space marine army still kicking around somewhere at home

as casa said, it is something i actually wouldn't mind doing again but it is just way too expensive for what it is

I used to play 40k. Had a Dark Elder Army, then switched to Dark Angel Space Marines.

I still have a Dark Elder army lying around somewhere that I started again when I got back into it the 2nd time.

Loved to play it, but sometimes it just seemed to go so long and so many rules. I loved painting and designing them, I have a few well painted ones that I will try to get pics of. I also used to love making the Terran to display them. Pretty nerdy, but I thought it was a cool hobby for rainy days sitting at home.

Chermside are still open, and two weeks ago they opened another at Broadbeach, the Carindale one was closed because the rent was doubled when they upgraded the shopping center. The Mt Gravatt store is a "Bunker" store, meaning they have heaps of tables where you can play. Mt Gravatt is open til 10pm on Friday nights for "Games Nights" which is pretty cool.

Never played but had a few models painted because I thought they were awesome. Always loved Skaven though.

40k player here although really haven't played for a while now. Shit tonne of Space marines, Tau, Imp Guard, Nuns with guns and orks all mostly in storage... I try not to think how long I've been playing for because then I get an urge to wave a walking stick at kids and go on about the good ol days of 2nd edition overwatch rules.

Oh and great job with the paint tanaka

i had 1500 points of dark elves somewhere, but went looking through old stuff a while ago to flog them to a guy from work and they seemed to have been lost in a move somewhere, unfortunately, found paints and stuff but no miniatures.

i enjoyed playing with mates, back in early high school, but i was god damn awful at painting, don't have a steady enough hand to do anything decent.

I play whenever I get a chance, which is not that often anymore.

Have ~3k painted skaven army, ~10k 2nd ed space wolves, ~3k orks.
So yea, I'm a sucker for punishment when painting apparently. The ork and skaven armies are both 200+ models.

If your looking for somewhere to play that isn't a GW shop I can recommend a gaming group over at Middle Park, they do games Sunday evenings from the pub attached to Dan Murphys, not a bad setup.
Think they have a Facebook called 'pubhammer'

Nice. The paint job on the figures turned out really good.

I played 40k from year 6 till year 10. Then i grew up (realised that the shit was expensive and realised girls boobies were for touching if i put in nearly unlimited attention into the girl).
