Bioware have announced that Aussies can finally transfer characters to the new servers - but you better get on it! You only have until the 24th.
Today we are excited to announce that from now until April 24, 2012, 2:01PM AEST, 4:01PM NZST, 12:01PM HKT, 12:01PM SGT, qualifying players in the Asia Pacific territories who purchased Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ prior to the game’s official launch in their region will be able to transfer their characters, for free, to a locally-hosted server!
Also it looks like you can change type (PVE => PVP) when you move too :)

Also tad annoying it's only characters before February 28th, even though that date was made due to March being the "time" for transfers. My poor level 30 Sage is stuck on Swiftsure now...

Yeh ... makes you wonder sometimes if Bioware has a testing department. Crazy how often shit gets pushed to production and is blatantly broken. Maybe I'm being harsh but it sure seems like lots of shit needs to be fixed post-launch.

Just read the fine print. Fuck this is ridiculous, Bioware can you do anything sensibly?
Character transfers will begin April 24, 2012, 8:00PM EST, 10:00PM NZST, 6:00PM HKT, 6:00PM SGT and may take up to 7 days. At some point during these 7 days, there will be a period of time of up to 3 hours where we will begin processing all requested character transfers associated with your account.
So you submit the transfer request and can't use the GTN or mail for 7 days starting on the 24th because at some random fucking point they'll decide to do the transfer without warning.
Seriously? How can this be an accepted process? |

Blade it's currently having teething problems according to the sticky on the general forums. When it is working, you'll be able to choose any character that was made before February 28th 2012 and transfer them to an Oceanic server of your choice.
The problem I'm facing is sadly I only have the Sith character, Eorl, that was created before February, and so I will have to wait for further transfers to get all alts on the same server.

We sure do!
We need tanks and dps more than anything else at the moment. We have a curious glut of healers, some of whom have been shunted into DPS roles. We have one geared MT and a gearing MT/OT, as well as ravn0s who is DPS and tanks for us in a pinch.
To be honest at the moment we prolly need an extra 3-4 raiders in general to maintain our 2 night schedule, had a few drop out because THEY ARE TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE PEOPLE. Most of our raiders are approaching full Columi now and we're keen to try the new zone ASAP.
We also will be doing regular premade PVP nights on Wednesday if that floats ya boat too.

Went to the tarp website but I didn't end up bother applying yet, since my toon isn't on Master Dar'nala yet.
Oh, also, does the transfer include a name change? And are transfers going through immediately? I thought they didn't go through till after the 24th but the way I've heard some people talking, I got the impression their transfers had already gone through.

transfers begin on the 24th, but it could take up to 7 days after that date for your character to be transferred.
if your name is already taken on the server, your character will be given a temporary name that you will be able to change when you login.

What's frustrating is that Australia is now a supported region but we get the WORST patch times.

This means that a standard update window (4 hours) doesn't affect anyone's evening prime time, and still affects the Holy Grail USA least of all.

So yeh anytime starting the 24th for a week, so don't put anything on GTN or have shit in the mail ><
The transfer doesn't specifically include a name change, but you'll be asked to set a new name if you happen to have a char on the server when you log in with the same name, so you can force it :)

I do like the Trooper and Agent stories but I always struggled with money and good gear for both of them which just made it a little annoying when your gear is shit. |

I'm levelling up a BH as an alt, and they are pretty fun, but the story seems a little bit bland so far. I've got an IA alt as well, and the story for them is pretty badass, and I played a smuggler a little bit as well (originally just cos he sounds like nathan drake), and he seemed like he had a pretty fun story, but I just couldn't be bothered levelling up two characters that were essentially the same (the IA and smuggler). Even though with my IA I'm going stealth and shanking the shit out of things, but with the smuggler I went gunslinger, so they play a bit different. Think I prefer shanking though.

Heh BH story is very meh, when I was doing the last few levels I had an IA guildie along for the run and she said it was terrible.
I didn't bother to finish mine until I needed it to get onto the Ilum dailies.

Sith Warrior was a bit hit and miss for the first half, it had some cool moments but it didn't really feel like it was going anywhere. Then about halfway through theres a cool twist and it goes in a whole new direction and you start working directly for the Emperor and become the Wrath of the Emperor, and from then on its pretty consistently badass.

I don't agree with separate maintenance windows, it would never work well. People would just flock to the servers that are still up, causing heaps of problems and most likely developing more downtime. This current downtime is to be expected after a quite large patch, something I'm use to from playing WoW and other MMO's.

I got my characters transfers set up ready for the 24th. I will be transfering all my Imperial characters, BH lv36, Inquisitor lv20, Warr lv13 and lv8 Agent. I might make a dirty smuggler on Da Narla for fun, I want to see the wookiee and Mon Calamari dude.

It posts the form back to itself with a green message bar at the top of the page saying successful. If you;re unsure its safe to re-save the transfer at any time.
Its not the best UI-wise, normally if a form posts back to itself you should (imo) show the response next to the button you clicked on, and preferably do it with ajax so that its clear wtf is going on.
I sent my request last night.. haven't heard anything back yet.
You won't hear anything until the 24th at least.

Hope everyone got their transfers submitted, its closed off now, and they start getting processed later tonight.
Make sure you've cleaned out your mail! You'll lose anything you've still got in the mail.
I played a bit over the weekend, and it was so lonely on myy server, like 20 - 30 people on the fleet and couldn't get any groups for anything. I think the server is still a populated server, its just not populated at the times I'm playing, so it'll be nice to be on a server thats full of people when I'm actually playing.

All the "un-official" aussie servers are reporting massive drops in players since last night, and I don't think it will bode well for non-oceanic players who stick around. It's funny that us Oceanic players were finally the ones with more power, never really happened before.
Edit, reading hoggy's post, they seem to be doing it on whoever signed up first goes through, so hopefully I'll get in early!

Just got Error Code 6 which apparently coincides with transfers, so guess my characters are being transferred. Just tried logging in then and couldn't so tomorrow when I wake up should be enjoying the good ol' 40ms.

Okies have been transferred and 7 of my 8 are now on the Aussie server, 1 character did not go for some strange reason.
I also notice my main character has had its name changed, I have had that character since the beginning of early access.
(I did have name placeholders on the Aussie servers since they went live as well but since you had to have empty slots on the destination server to fill out the transfer website page I deleted them a couple of days ago I have 8 toons I had no choice but to delete all 8 placeholder toons if I wanted them all transferred)
So now there is a toon that can only be a couple of days old if that running around and I loose my main characters name all because they could not come up with a decent system to avoid this very thing.

Unfortunately no :( There's talk that they may do it like WoW, where a % EXTRA gets added to the guild bank.
For now we rely on donations. I've assigned a modest amount for repair bills, but our relatively meagre funds will evaporate unless people chuck in.

i read on reddit that you can make money from tionese crystals and commendations. if you have a shitload of them and nothing to spend them on, buy the marauder offhand weapon and sell it to to a vendor for just over 12k. they only cost 14 crystals and 8/9 commendations i think and give the best credits out of all the other items. last edited by ravn0s at 17:32:55 27/Apr/12

For some weird reason, when I'm playing Star Wars my internet freezes and disconnects me, and my Skype will pop up while in convo saying "problem with call blah blah".
I'm running an external Ethernet adapter, an Asus NX1101. Guess that's what I get for going Asus. Can't use motherboard Ethernet port as that is borked as well.

Well seems I fixed the issue after spending an hour changing cables, pulling out the Ethernet card and general tinkering. Yay more Star Wars!
