Xbox and Wii lag on new tv

Hey guys,

Just spent a lot of money - for me anyway - on a brand new LCD TV which is giving me major lag on both the xbox and wii - and we cant play anything, its enough to just be unusable. My brother bought the exact same TV on the same day I did and is having no issues with the playstation which leads me to think this may be an issue with the AV. I have done some research on other forums and they basically say its the television and there is nothing I can do about it - which I refuse to accept as they have worked perfectly on at least 3 other lcds. Is there anything I can do? RCA to HDMI converters or anything?

I need your help, this is completely tragic for me. You cant just buy a new tv that doesnt work with anything.

RCA to HDMI? .. wut?

Provide more info like how are you connecting between your consoles and the TV and what refresh rate the TV is running at when they are connected (press the INFO button or something).

Depending how you have the wii plugged in depends on how good the sensor bar will be.

If you are running the wii through a amplifier there will be a huge lag with the remotes and sensor bar. Try plugging the wii directly into the tv and see how that goes.

Otherwise take your wii over to your brothers house and see if it works on his tv?

Turn off any "100hz" modes, image processing stuff etc. Also try setting the picture mode to "Game Mode".

Also, what inputs are you using? The Wii is capable of Component output (480p) which requires less processing than interlaced (480i/576i) modes and generally looks much better anyway. Your XBOX (I assume an XBOX 360?) is capable of HDMI and VGA out and if the lag is still particularly bad through HDMI then you should give VGA a try. VGA tends to have no processing done to it by default, indeed on some TVs it skips the post processing circuit altogether.

The TV is an LG 42LX6500
The wii is plugged directly into the television via standard rca.
Have been pretty extensively through the tv menu and there is no where obvious to change the resolution of the picture etc. There is a game picture mode but it doesnt effect the response time. We have changed the settings on the xbox console which seem to be ok but we have only tested it on burnout thus far, so the issue really is the will. We have tried wii sports, dance revolution and guitar hero, none of which are remotely functional with a second delay in response time. We have been through the wii console settings but you can only really change the motion censor location.

This. I have to do both Game Mode AND turn off all the image smoothness / interpolation / 100Hz crap or else my console games are unplayable. On the LG it should be called TruMotion?

yer, its most likely going to be related to the refresh rate

wii has a few display modes (50hz/60hz) try them also

try different av inputs as well, the tv should have 3 or 4 sets of them

i use component cables for my wii (cost like $20 extra or something)

also, see me if you want to get your wii modded, prolong the life of your wii originals!

The motion sensor is just 4 IR LEDs, it's completely passive. You can replace it with two candles and as such doesn't have anything to do with your problem.

You need to get a component cable. If you're willing to wait a few weeks you can get one from dealextreme for 5 bucks, if not you'll have to pay about 20-30.

Ok, have put the TV in game mode which automatically turns the tru motion off - no improvement. Im going to go buy a component cable now and see if that helps at all :|

Using the same logic:

This doesn't happen on a CRT.
