I can assure you that the current PSN as you know it will remain a free service. It is something that our competitors don?t offer and something that shows our loyalty to the PlayStation Community. However, Kaz Hirai stated a few months ago that we were looking at a premium service to sit alongside the current free service and that objective has not changed. You'll learn more about it very soon.

Except i can still pay nothing on my ps3 and play online for free....
Not only that but if demo's do become something you have to pay to play then having the ability to play an hour of a retail game for free then pay for the full thing sounds like a pretty good service to me.

Auto background patching of games is also fucking handy as and cross game chat.. pwoah

Not sure what the protection coverage is, something id like to learn more about.

Id also much rather pay a subscription and get access to the psone titles or mini's rather then buy them out right.

also this has greater potential with the addition of the psp.. especially if it allows the same kind of features.

Sounds dodgy, stuff like auto updating in the background should be a standard feature. It's whack to try and make us pay for OS updates.

You mean stuff thats already free on the 360? Yeah, sounds like a great deal.

Damn its nice though, having something to throw back in the face of people who pull out the "At least its free to play online on ps3" argument. I'll give props to Sony for doing me that small favour if nothing else.
