This is one of those threads where I ask what kind of system/s you are running. I need to know if my computer is cutting edge enough.

Anywho:

CPU: Athlon 64 3400+ 754pin

Motherboard: Asus K8N-E Deluxe (6 port SATA baby!)

Videocard: Generic brand Radeon 9800 non-pro (getting a bit long in the tooth)

RAM: 512mb Kingston HyperX 3200

HDD: 2 x 160gb Seagate SATA, 2 x 80gb Seagate PATA, 1 x 30gb Seagate PATA.

DVD: 4 speed liteon DVD/RW

CASE: Superlanboy

Plus I have a Shuttle with a 2500+ and radeon 9600, and another case with a 1700+ and a radeon 9200.

What's everyone running?

Cutting edge enough, pfft. It'll do :-)

My runs the games I play well enough with exception to Doom 3.

CPU AMD Athlon 2400+ - probably upgrade to a 3200+ Barton core.

Motherboard Gigabyte GA-7VT600 1394

RAM 2 x 512 MB DDR (400mhz running at 266) can't remember if its Kingmax or Kingston but it was a good price.

HDD All maxtor drives 1 x 80Gb PATA, 1 x 120Gb PATA, 1 x 120Gb SATA

Video HIS Excalibur IceQ Radeon 9800 Pro - big cooler attached !!

Sound Creative Audigy 2 ZS connected to Logitech X620 6.1 speakers

DVD Liteon 16x DVD-ROM

CD Liteon 52x CD-RW

Case Lian Li PC 60 - a couple of years old now but it has 4 USB ports on the front, all USB 2.0 compatible

My 2nd pc is just a XP 1600 with 512MB DDR, an old GF2MX400 that is used for backups and testing software.

Hrm. . .I promised myself a new comp for my birthday, but I don't do much gaming anymore.

. . .although I'll definitely treat myself to an upgrade for HL2, Vampire, and World of WarCraft. A dual-layer DVD-RW would be cool too.

I have 3 systems that are capable of playing games reasonably well.

My main games, KrasHsMonster.

Antec 1080AMG case
AMD Athlon XP 3000+
Asus A7N8X Deluxe (nForce 2 GT chipset, I think)
512MB RAM
Windblows XP Pro SP1
Leadtek A380 Ultra TDH (GeForceFX 9550 Ultra, 256MB, overclocked by about 5-15%)
2 x 120GB SATA running RAID 0
120GB EIDE HDD
Firewire
TV Card
Liteon DVD-ROM
LG GSA 4040B DVD Burner (DVD+/-R, DVD-RAM)
Logitech wireless keboard
M$ Intellimouse, optical mouse
Sony SDM S73 17" LCD monitor

3D Mark 2003 - 6000+
Doom 3 Timedemo - 44.9fps

My older box,KrasHsBeast.

Athlon XP 2400+
Soltek SL-75KAV (originally only supported upto 1.4Ghz athlons, but luckily the revision number of my board allows upto Athlon XP 2600+, with a bit of trickery ie latest bios updates)
ASUS GFX card - GeForce 4 Ti 4400 (128MB)
384MB RAM
120GB HDD
Windblows XP Pro SP1
Firewire
Liteon 48x CD-RW
Happy Hacking Keyboard Deluxe (very small keyboard I bought about 4 years ago)
M$ Optical Mouse
Benq 15" LCD Monitor

3D mark 2003 - 1900
Doom 3 timedemo - 19 fps

My latest toy, KrasHs(haven't thought of a name yet), the laptop, currently in the mail. Exepected deliver few more days.

Asus A2500D
Athlon XP-M 2800+
Ati Radeon Mobility 9600 Pro (dedicated 64MB VRAM)
512MB RAM
60GB HDD
DVD-Dual (CD-RW, DVD-R/RW etc)
15" TFT
Windblows XP Pro (suspect SP1, but hopefully not SP2, because I've heard of broken function keys on laptops from this ie they crash when a function key is pressed)
Firewire, Card reader, etc. No wireless lan though, rectified later with PC card

3D Mark 2003 - 3000 or so (taken from another source with ati radeon mobility 9600 pro running in a similar speced laptop) - May vary greatly though.

DOOM 3 Timedemo - can't wait to find out. I expect low to mid 20's, but maybe even close to 30 (wishful thinking). Will need to use the memory setting tweak though.

Also have 2 other older PC boxes, running Fedora Core 2. Oh and the Amiga 4000 with Cyberstorm PPC CPU card and CyberVision PPC Video card. Still works after 12 years. Still as reliabe as ever (now I've jinxed it). Runs AmigaOS 3.9. Still use it for various network/internet things. Mainly IRC etc. Worms DC (Directors Cut, the best version of Worms)rocks on it. Also watch Amiga demo's on it as well. Remarkable when you see some of this stuff beating so very highly specced PC demo's at demo parties around the world. This from decade old architecture ;) Particularly rules the 4k and 64k roost. The odd higher level demo also fares well. Must stop rambling now..

Just had a look at futuremarks website and did the 3D mark 2003 compare. The Laptop I ordered does 2500 3D marks. Found the same type of laptop, just slight difference in specs (RAM and CPU). could be interesting anyways ;) I've actually seen some gamers at the ACTGN LAN's playing on their laptops. I wonder what 3D marks they get :)

some random 400 watt psu for mobo, vga and watercooling.

some random atx psu for all hdd's and extra case fans.

random dvd rom drive from old packard bell i junked.

liteon 48x cd burner

hx08 case (skeletal)

hardcano something or other. i forget.

next lot of upgrades will include:

dual layer dvd burner

better psu or a shuttle psu to mount in my case

looking at consolidating my hdd space and making more machines with the freed up drives...

i'm thinking of moving away from the hx08 case and into something that will actually house my pc properly - hopefully something like a cube server case, then i can mount a second pc on the other side of the case.

thats prolly it really. maybe some rice.
