Unofficial Installer Fix for America's Army v2.5.0 and Windows 2003 or Windows 64 Bit Machines
----------------------
If you are using Windows 2003 or Windows XP 64 Bit the installer of Americas Army 2.5 will not work.
After you started the installation, accepted the EULA and entered the path and install options, the
installer will stop with an Error message like this:
*** The wizwad was interrupted before America's Army could be completly installed [...] ***
Also possible that the whole installer stops without an error message
This Error Message is probably caused by the DirectX 9 Setup that was integrated into v2.5.0. This
Version of DirectX that is coming with AAO 2.5.0 is not compatible with with x64 or Win2k3 systems. It's
causing an error and the installer of americas army will stop and not install the whole game, just because
the DirectX Setup caused an error at the beginning.
----------------------
What does this fix do?
This unofficial fix contains a file which started the DirectX 9 Setup at the beginning.
The *.msi file was edited and 4-5 lines of code were removed so that the DX9 Setup will not get started
at the beginning of the game installation.
----------------------
How to install this fix?
First of all you need a working full version download of America's Army. It should be a 900 MB File
with the name armyops250_win.exe or americasarmy250_download.exe or something like this.
You have to open this *.exe file with your favorite file extractor (like Winrar from www.rarlab.com or winzip from www.winzip.com).
Extract all the files into a separate folder on your harddisk! After it finished extracting all the files
move to that folder. In this folder the install files of AA should be found!
You should see a file called setup.exe, America'sArmy.msi and several compressed *.cab files.
Now you have to replace the original America'sArmy.msi file with the file that was coming with this unofficial fix!
After replacing that file you can start the AA Setup again by clicking on the setup.exe file in that folder.
Now the setup should work without any problems and you will be able to install this game!
It was only tested on a Windows XP 64 Bit Machine but it also should work with Windows 2k3 or any other machines
that had problems during the installation caused by DirectX 9 Setup
