So apparently there's a new Aliens vs Predator game in the works! They don't have a proper title just yet so it's just being referred to as "Aliens vs Predator". It sounds pretty similar to AvP2 and most of the information released so far is fairly generic and expected:
The Marine’s story is an incredible fight against the odds, and the horrors lurking in the dark. Beset on all sides yet armed to the teeth, the Colonial Marine represents humanity’s last stand with the firepower to fight back. There are some cool screenshots that are definitely worth a look and there's a trailer showcasing the Predator action. It's a bit of a Left 4 Dead 2 celebration around here, but in the spirit of a New Orleans mardi-gras, we figure why not. So, after asking Valve to comment on all the community issues with the announcement of Left 4 Dead 2, we thought some hands-on time was the next best step and so yours truly sat in front of one of Valve's stunning monitors, fired up the mouse and got ready to slam a chainsaw clear through a zombie's head.
For our full impressions of the game click this link. Of course for more information and links to various media and editorial, check out our game page. Post by Steve Farrelly @ 12:29pm 06/06/09 | 12 Comments
In the wake of some initial excitement and then a community in uproar, we tracked down Valve's meeting room at this year's E3 to hear it from the zombie horse's mouth, so to speak. And managed to grab writer, Chet Faliszek, to talk about all things gumbo, swampy and sequelly (I know that's not a word, too).
For anyone too lazy to read, we have a video of our interview up right here, and for anyone who can't stand the sound of my voice or doesn't want to use up their bandwidth, we have a full transcript here. Check our L4D2 game page for more info. Friday, 5 June 2009

The LEGOfication of ever major brand, franchise, movie or book continues with LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4, due next year:
LEGO® Harry Potter: Years 1-4 will give gamers the chance to experience the magic and adventure of Harry Potter in a new and uniquely LEGO way. Playing as Harry Potter, Ron Weasley™ and Hermione Granger™, as well as other favourite characters, gamers will have the opportunity to attend lessons, cast spells, mix potions, fly on broomsticks and complete tasks to earn house points. Throughout the game, players will also have the freedom to explore iconic settings from the wizarding world including Hogwarts castle, Diagon Alley™, the Forbidden Forest and the village of Hogsmeade™!A teaser trailer is available, showing off some of the scenes for the first movie in the classic LEGO gaming style that you'd be familiar with if you've seen any of the other LEGO titles (which I must confess is actually pretty entertaining to watch). Fresh from E3, we've got the trailer for Gran Turismo 5, the next in the series of the granddaddy of PlayStation racing games. Not of a lot of other information about it just yet, but the trailer shows lots of sweet rides going really fast, which I guess is the sort of thing you want in a racing game.

Pro-gamer Johnathan “Fatal1ty” Wendel, has been hard at work showing off the latest solid state drive from Fusion-io, targeted at gamers:
"The ioXtreme supercharges high-end PCs and workstations. I predict this technology will fundamentally change the way software is designed, allowing developers to create a new class of applications that seamlessly handle massive amounts of data," Fatal1ty said. “Imagine playing the most intense game, working on complex 3-D graphics, manipulating massive files, ripping multiple DVDs and installing a new application -- all simultaneously. The technology is crazy and works at the speed I need.”And yes, that's Steve Wozniak of Apple fame. Also, check out the hilarious video at Fatal1ty's website at the top. We've been talking in the forums a little about the advantages of SSD, so this might be of interest to those trying to decide what direction their next upgrade will be in.
